The coverage, area by area
Wide 4G in the cities and along the tourist corridors, with 5G in Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara and Cancún. On the federal highways there is almost always a signal; in rural parts of Chiapas, Oaxaca or the sierra, there are real gaps.
At the archaeological sites the signal reaches the entrance and is often lost inside, which is exactly where it helps to have the map and the tickets downloaded.
The days, which get miscalculated here
Long-haul flights tend to land in the afternoon and leave before dawn, so the first and the last day count in full. And a layover in another country is not covered by a Mexico plan: if you have a long stop and leave the terminal, for data purposes that is somewhere else.
